I just wanted to say that we had the most beautiful weekend at Royal Coachman! The fishing was the best we'd experienced in years (even better than the Drakensberg or some Dullstroom spots we've tried) and the scenery absolutely breath taking.  The house itself is first class! Cosy, beautifully decorated and so incredibly clean. We have decided that as our boys (8 months and 3 years) grow up over the years, this will certainly be the spot where we will teach them to fish.So we definitely intend to return - and often. Thank you for a wonderful, wonderful stay!

Just a short note to say that my mother & I enjoyed our stay at the Royal Coachman very much indeed – we were sorry that we had to leave and return to Johannesburg! Anyway we found your lodge excellent – a home from home, with everything we needed. I look forward to returning soon, and I shall be recommending the lodge to anyone visiting Clarens.”

“Thanks for looking after us - we had a fabulous holiday.  I thought you might like these Pics that Simon took from the balcony.  It was lovely and peaceful and we will definitely stay there again next time we are in Clarens.”

“You may remember in January Ken Guy from Vagabonds an myself, Ian Brown, fished your water one day. You saw Ken returning a 2.5 - 3.0 kg brown to the water. The following morning I returned with my father, Frank, who was visiting from the UK. My father also caught a beautiful brown which weighed in at 2.5 kg's.

Thanks for some great fishing. My Dad will never forget it.”

”I would just like to extend a sincere thanks on behalf of us all - Maré,myself, Bill and Georgie, for the use of your facilities this past weekend. We all had a wonderful time - Maré and Georgie spending lots of money on all sorts of "goodies" especially Georgie what with gifts to take back to Scotland.Bill and myself had an extremely productive fishing weekend and must have landed and returned in excess of 40 fine brown and rainbow trout from many spots around the dam. Time on the river was limited and although a bit difficult in places we caught and returned around 6 nice trout over a period of around one and a half hours. All the fish were in excellent condition, but found that all the rainbows caught in the dam got very stressed and although we hauled them in as quick as possible, it took some time to get them swimming off again - we assume that the water temperature was a bit high, however it was the most productive fishing we've had in our +/- 30 years each, of fly fishing - makes up for all those "blank" days hey........ All in all, the accommodation was exceptional - design, interior and location and as for the scenery we all loved the surrounding views.

Keep well and thanks again from us all.”

I thought I would drop you an e-mail to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at the Royal Coachman.  The quality of the accommodation was the best we have ever stayed in (and we have stayed in many different trout-fishing places in and around the Dullstroom area), the staff were pleasant and efficient and the quality of fishing was incredible.  I managed to catch my first Brown Trout, and at 1,7kgs, my biggest fish yet!  There were numerous other fish caught, all Rainbow and all varying between 750g and 1,4kg.  The fish were all released and all in magnificent condition.  The river fishing was tough, and the fish won the battle, but it is a beautiful stretch of water and we all look forward to returning to try again.

I have recommended the Royal Coachman to anyone who will listen and I compliment you on a top-notch fly-fishing destination.
